About Course

This is a 4-hour course designed for non-medical people who are caring for an elderly relative or client in the home. It includes specific information about the needs, safety and physical changes of the elderly, with brief information about common diseases and illnesses. The course addresses how to communicate with clients or family members with Alzheimer’s Disease/dementia, as well as containing an entire section on caring for clients/relatives with dementia. This section provides ways to assist clients/relatives with eating, bathing, incontinence, pain and discomfort, and specific problems such as wandering and sundowner syndrome. The student will progress at their own pace using written materials, videos, activities and learning checkpoints.
