Project Search

Project SEARCH is an invitation-only program designed to increase employability skills for students with significant disabilities to assist them with a plan to transition from school to employment through innovative workforce and career development. Canadian Valley Technology Center's Project SEARCH program is located at INTEGRIS-Canadian Valley Regional Hospital in Yukon.

Project SEARCH is dedicated to workforce development which can benefit the individual, community, and workplace by offering on-site job skills training and support, career exploration in a variety of entry level positions, internships, interviewing and assessment practice, and job placement. 

Student Benefits of Project SEARCH:

Relatively small class size (8 students)
Classroom located at the host hospital
One school-year immersion in the culture of the host business
Three, 10-week unpaid internships
Teacher and job coaches provide on-site training and support
Career exploration in a variety of entry-level positions
Participation in “Employability Skills” curriculum
Practice in interviewing, feedback and assessment with Project SEARCH and host business staff
Attainment of competitive, marketable and transferable job skills
Placement in a competitive job to match their skills and interests

Student Eligibility Guidelines
Desire and ability to work and become employed
Be between 18 and 24 years old
High school graduate
Completed at least 1 year in a program at a CareerTech center
Have a diagnosed disability
Be able to communicate effectively
Be a client of Vocational Rehabilitation
Have appropriate personal hygiene, social skills, and communication skills
Ability to take direction
Willingness to change behavior
Pass drug screen, background check, and immunizations
Willing to take flu shot during flu season
Have transportation to/from host business
Not attending college classes
Not already employed in a career
