CV Tech Student Notches Academic Trifecta of Honors

CV Tech Pre-Engineering Academy student

Caleb Houston, of Piedmont, has scored an academic trifecta during his senior year of high school. Recently, he has earned Academic All-State, has been named a National Merit Finalist and registered a perfect score on one of the college entrance exams. Houston is enrolled in the Pre-Engineering Academy at Canadian Valley Technology Center.

Here are his most recent honors:

Academic All-State
The honor is bestowed by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence to only 100 outstanding public school seniors each year in Oklahoma in recognition of academic achievement, leadership and community service. He receives a $1,500 scholarship and will be recognized at foundation’s annual academic awards banquet at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Norman on May 4.

National Merit Finalist
About half of the 7,250 finalists nationwide are selected to receive a National Merit Scholarship of $2,500 and recognition as Merit Scholars, according to information provided by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

ACT Perfect Score
Houston recently scored a natural perfect 36 on the ACT exam. He is expected to graduate Piedmont High School and the Pre-Engineering Academy in May. So far, he is undecided on a college but wants to possibly study nuclear engineering.
