CHICKASHA – “Setting a Standard for Luxury” is a tagline written on an advertisement for the family business of siblings Brady and Abby Clark.
“Signature Quarters” creates luxurious custom living spaces with all the comforts of home but inside of horse and cattle stock trailers and toy haulers.
The company relocated from Valentine, Neb., to Chickasha in 2016. The Clarks sought to grow their aluminum trailer conversion business closer to the point of origin for the raw products they use.
That same year, the Clarks purchased control of the company from their father, Dick Clark, a custom homebuilder who founded the business 10 years earlier.
The Clarks were visited by Canadian Valley Technology Center’s Business and Industry Services team, which provided a welcome basket chock full of economic development ideas aimed at increasing their company’s profits.
The utilization of Lean principles delivered by CV Tech staff has assisted in the growth and productivity of Signature Quarters, said Abby Clark, who attests to improved work flow, productivity and cost management.
As a result, Signature Quarters has been named CV Tech’s 2019 Partner for Progress. The award recognizes training relationships developed between public and private industries and technology centers statewide. The award is presented annually in conjunction with the Oklahoma Association of Technology Centers during Business and Industry Day to highlight businesses who put Oklahomans to work.
Signature Quarters employs 16 people, including several CV Tech graduates, and is currently hiring more employees. Business is good, she said, at the facility located on south U.S. 81.
Abby Clark also serves on a CV Tech advisory committee for the BIS team and routinely provides helpful feedback that is shared with various program instructors.
Together, the Clarks have created a niche business that is rolling out aluminum trailer conversions featuring high-end cabinetry, LED lighting, leather accents, full bathrooms, kitchens and comfortable sleeping areas. The company also creates production line models that are sold through a network of dealers.
Clientele continues to evolve and diversify, she said. Oilfield expansion has created another market for the Clarks, who produce mobile offices with a cozy atmosphere. The emerging mobile business sector and its desire for a commercial trailer with a store in the back and living quarters in the front also has resulted in client growth.
CV Tech staff also has expanded its services to Signature Quarters by providing expertise to update the company handbook and by adding a safety program to meet the needs of the blossoming business.
“Everybody has been very welcoming, warm and supportive,” Abby Clark said. “We have met a bunch of great people.”
