CHICKASHA – For the second consecutive year, the T-shirt design for a statewide leadership group was submitted by a Canadian Valley Technology Center student.

Savannah Threadgill, 20, of Chickasha, is an adult student in CV Tech’s Graphic Design program. The theme for this year’s National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) statewide conference is “Leadership Is Out of This World.”

Threadgill’s design was inspired by NASA’s logo, she said.

“I loved the idea of the shirt representing all space knowledge not just an overused icon,” she said. “The feather and lasso represent Oklahoma. The feather was inspired by the Oklahoma flag and the lasso was inspired by westerns and the country feel of the state.”

Threadgill said she purposely chose to avoid aliens and UFOs when brainstorming for the design. The shirt was worn by several hundred participants at the recent conference, and Threadgill was introduced as the T-shirt designer.

NTHS helps schools recognize students for achievement in career and technical education programs nationwide. Members must have an A average grade in their tech center class, three or fewer absences per semester and must be recommended by their instructors. Each receives a certificate, a diploma seal, a graduation tassel, lapel pin and window decal in recognition of their efforts.
