Four students enrolled in Practical Nursing and Surgical Technology at Canadian Valley Technology Center have each received $100 awards to assist with school expenses, courtesy of the new Amy D. Schoolfield Memorial Scholarship.

Schoolfield, a longtime nurse in the area, died in April 2023. She was a 1992 graduate of Amber-Pocasset High School and a 1997 graduate of CV Tech’s Practical Nursing program. She then completed her Registered Nurse coursework at Oklahoma City Community College and worked 20 years as a nurse in various capacities in the area.

Her family sought to celebrate her life by contributing to adult students enrolled in health care programs at CV Tech. Family members said Amy excelled in applying the technical and practical skills of nursing and was equally skilled in the ability to compassionately care for and comfort patients and families.

Recipients of the scholarships include Practical Nursing students Carlisha Young, Tyana Rawson and Jasmine Alexander and Surgical Tech student Anita Young. All are Chickasha residents.
