High School Enrollment
CV Tech offers over 30 programs for high school students between our three campuses. Each fall, enrollment begins for the next school year. Students must apply and be accepted into a program.
Common Questions
Applying early DOES NOT put you at the top of the list. All eligible high school students who apply by the application deadline will be interviewed.
When a student is interviewed for consideration for a program, counselors use a rubric to assess career interest, academic levels, graduation credits, attendance and schedule availability in the overall decision making process.
Late applications are accepted based on program availability and wait lists.
Tuttle and Minco students: Please note that applications for select programs may be due December 18. Please contact your high school counselor for more information.
Counselors will interview students for consideration in a program, usually in the month of February. A simple short interview is done to get to know the student’s future career goals.
We work with the student’s partner school team to ensure that accommodations are provided.
Students will attend either an AM or PM half-day program at CV Tech. Students will attend high school the other half of the day.
We partner with each of our 14 schools to provide bus transportation to and from their high school each day. Riding the bus is not a requirement; those who are legally able to drive may do so. Students not attending public school will require transportation.
Yes! Each campus has a commons area with a cafeteria and vending machines. High school students are not given extra time for lunch, but there is a scheduled break.
Yes! Each program has a Career Tech Student Organization (CTSO). Health Careers joins HOSA; Early Care joins FCCLA; Accounting and Business Management is a part of BPA, and all the other programs are part of SkillsUSA. They compete at the district, state and sometimes national levels for their programs. You also can apply to be a CVTech Ambassador. These high school students are the “face” of Canadian Valley and do recruitment and tours throughout the year.
Math credit is available through most classes for 11th and 12th grade. If needed, Algebra 2 is offered at our El Reno and Chickasha campuses. Schools will grant credit according to their policy. Students spend one hour in math class at CV Tech and two hours in their program.
Many of our athletes choose to the AM CV Tech schedule because of afternoon sports. They are able to fit Career Tech, high school sports, and academics into their busy schedules.
Many students can also do concurrent enrollment if their schedule allows. This is decided with partner school counselors.
