Amos Gonzalez is a state champion member of the Quiz Bowl team, which captured gold at the recent state SkillsUSA competition as representatives of Canadian Valley Technology Center.

Gonzalez, 20, of Chickasha, will soon complete CV Tech’s Digital Media program. Instructor Rachel Somers describes him as a natural source of energy and inspiration for all of those around him.

Gonzalez is the post-secondary recipient of the 2021 CV Tech Foundation Outstanding Scholar Award. He has also been presented with a $1,000 cash award, courtesy of the Foundation.

He already has a summer job lined up, working as a paid intern videographer with a church-based youth conference organization. He will be traveling across the Midwest and possibly the east coast. COVID-19 restrictions might limit other planned events.

In Digital Media, he also received certifications in both Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop. He attended CV Tech using the Next Step Scholarship, which provides free tuition to students who meet certain criteria. Among these is being under age 24, living within the district and having a high school diploma or equivalent. Books and fees still apply.

Each of CV Tech’s campuses also have a high school winner, and this year’s Chickasha Campus recipient is Parker Shaffer, a home school student who lives in Chickasha.

Shaffer is described by Service Careers instructor Chad Bailey as someone who brings a light-hearted attitude with him, along with traits like dependability and leadership.

He plans to find a job that will allow him to save money so he can attend a Bible college and ultimately become a missionary.
