Haleigh Klaus-Belka, literacy coach at Canadian Valley Technology Center’s Chickasha Campus is being recognized as one of 30 literacy leaders named to the International Literacy Association’s 2023 30 Under 30 list.
This year’s list celebrates rising leaders and visionaries in the literacy field from 15 countries who are working to advance literacy practices and create more equitable learning environments across the globe.
Klaus-Belka, 28, of El Reno, was recognized for her work towards literacy instruction and promoting literacy at CV Tech. She started a campus book club and a campus Little Library to promote a love for reading within the community.
“It is essentially recognition for individuals under thirty who have made strides in promoting literacy in their communities,” Klaus-Belka said. “It is a huge deal in the literacy community, and I’m super proud of this recognition.”
The Association is a professional membership organization of literacy educators, researchers and experts spanning 112 countries. It provides an evidence-based benchmark for the development and evaluation of literacy professional preparation programs.
