Canadian Valley Technology Center employees Susan Weaver and Marc Belew have been recognized for their contributions either toward removing barriers to success for single-parent families or educating non-traditional students.
Weaver, 65, of El Reno, is CV Tech’s PIVOT Coordinator. She is the recipient of the 2020 Outstanding Member Award, as presented recently during Making It Work Day, by the Oklahoma Career and Technical Education Equity Council.
PIVOT assists students with career goals, while providing a structured and supportive environment for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Non-TANF clients who seek to further their education or broaden their overall skill base through assistance in occupational training. This can result in participants enrolling in full-time programs at CV Tech or might include academic remediation, job readiness training and placement.
Belew, 49, of El Reno, is the Precision Machining Technology instructor at CV Tech’s El Reno Campus. He is the recipient of the council’s 2020 Non-traditional Awards Instructor. Routinely, Belew educates females in a program that leads to jobs in a traditionally male-dominated machining industry.
