YUKON – More than $20,500 was raised through corporate gifts, individual sponsorships and tournament related raffles and games recently at the Third Annual Canadian Valley Technology Center Foundation Golf Tournament.
The event was hosted by the Golf Club at Surrey Hills. All proceeds benefit students enrolled in programs at CV Tech’s three metro Oklahoma City area campus locations.
Last year the CV Tech Foundation provided more than $40,000 in tuition assistance, scholarships, grants and hardship gifts for students.
Camino Natural Resources was the lead corporate sponsor for the golf tournament. The energy company has offices in both Oklahoma City and Chickasha and is developing in the Anadarko Basin of central Oklahoma with a focus in Canadian and Grady counties.
Proceeds from the tournament help students with monetary needs associated with their education that cannot legally be paid with general fund dollars provided by the local tax base.
Incorporated in 1984, the foundation is governed by a nine-member board of trustees that operates independently of the school.
Trustees oversee management and expenditures of foundation funds, which are earmarked to foster and promote technology education and help students realize their dreams. The late Helen Ward of Chickasha provided the initial gift to ensure the foundation’s future success.
Roughly 1,200 CV Tech students are enrolled in one of two dozen full-time career and technical education programs offered in the daytime. Hundreds more are enrolled in short-term courses, which are provided mostly in the evening. The school’s Business and Industry Services division serves thousands more each year through affordable, customized industry training.
