EL RENO — A major portion of the El Reno Campus reconstruction project was recently recognized with a regional award.

Officials at Coreslab Structures of Oklahoma City were presented the award for “Best Precast Best in Education.” Coreslab Structures presented the lowest and best bid for all precast elements associated with the campus rebuild in the wake of the 2013 tornado, which destroyed all nine buildings at the site.

The award is presented by the Precast Concrete Manufacturers’ Association of Texas. Coreslab Structures manufactured shop separating walls, exterior walls and storm shelters for the campus’ main building that reopened in January 2017.

Precast is a term often better known as tilt-up or tilt-wall construction. It’s a process in which walls of a building are manufactured in ideal, climate-controlled conditions at a factory and then delivered to a work site.
