Carter Claflin, Pre-Engineering student and Cadence Huggins, Digital Media student, place a time capsule into the ground at the El Reno Campus. Capsules were also buried at the Chickasha and Cowan campuses in celebration of the school’s 50th Anniversary. The events took place beside maple trees, which were planted in time for Arbor Day 2021. Also pictured in the background is CV Tech Superintendent Dr. Gayla Lutts, Cristy Callens, VP CMSWillowbrook Construction, and Gary Armbruster, Principal Architect/Partner at MA+ Architecture.

Students at all three campus sites helped CV Tech administrators bury commemorative 50th Anniversary time capsules beside newly planted maple trees on Arbor Day 2021.

Industry partners at MA+ Architecture and CMSWillowbrook Construction paid the project costs, which included Autumn Blaze Maple trees at each campus, time capsules and plaques. The time capsules include special items representative of the school’s Career Tech Student organizations, a 50th Anniversary T-shirt, campus photos and “A Year in Covid,” which is a synopsis describing what students, faculty and staff have endured the past year just to have school. The capsules are to be opened in the year 2070.

CV Tech has not lost any instructional days due to COVID-19. Virtual learning was necessary briefly last school year after Spring Break, but in-person classes resumed last August. Graduation, will still be virtual this year, with planned video releases of all programs on May 26 at cvtech.edu.
