CV TECH STUDENTS DESIGN NEW DETECTIVE LOGO PATCH
CHICKASHA – Police detectives in Chickasha have something new up their sleeves thanks to two area students.
CV Tech’s Interactive Media students Jacob Blue and Michael Ledbetter designed a new logo for the investigations unit at the Chickasha Police Department.
The idea for a new design was birthed by detectives, who were enrolled in evening photography classes at CV Tech.
Rachel Phillips, who teaches both the short-term evening class and the daytime Interactive Media program at CV Tech, asked that her daytime students given an opportunity to create the new patch for professional experience.
Detectives visited CV Tech several times to brainstorm with Blue and Ledbetter, both Chickasha High School juniors.
“They loved how they captured many different aspects of law enforcement in the logo,” Phillips said.
The Thin Blue Line is a symbol used by law enforcement to commemorate fallen officers and to symbolize the relationship of the police in the community as the protectors of the citizenry from the criminal element.
The Latin Phrase “Deus Est Tutela Meus Six” is translated, “God’s Got My Six.” The skull and the magnifying glass with the fingerprint in it represent the cases that they try to solve everyday.
