Project Connect is an alternative education program designed to help high school students ages 16-19 acquire a marketable skill while earning the credits necessary to receive a high school diploma. Students attend school from 8:25 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The program operates on an open entry/open exit basis from August through May. The expected duration of participation is one to three years or until the student earns enough credits to graduate. Project Connect is an opportunity to earn a high school diploma in a supportive environment while receiving technical training necessary for employment.

Project Connect provides a low student/teacher ratio in a technology-oriented atmosphere. Assessment includes academic achievement, aptitude, interests and learning style. The end result is a program tailored to specific student needs.

Yes, Project Connect offers required high school credit in the basic areas of English, history, math and science. Elective credits are offered in all of the school’s technical training areas “FROM A-W” (i.e. from Auto Collision to Welding). Close contact with each sending school ensures that graduation requirements are met to each school’s specifications.

Project Connect is housed at Canadian Valley Technology Center’s El Reno campus. Students from eight area high schools are eligible to enroll.

There is no cost to the student, parent(s) or guardian(s) provided the student is/has been enrolled at one of the high schools served by Canadian Valley Technology Center. Sending schools agree to pay for their students to attend Project Connect.

Students ages 16 to 19 who are considering leaving school; students who have dropped out of school; students who have been identified as potential drop-outs.

Yes. All potential Project Connect students must be referred to Project Connect by their partner school counselor or principal AND be accepted by the Project Connect staff before being placed in the program. Project Connect accepts new students at the beginning of each 9 weeks.

ALL Project Connect students are expected to be drug free and are at all times subject to drug testing if behaviors observed indicate possible drug use. Canadian Valley is committed to providing a drug-free campus for all students. New students entering Project Connect are required to pass a drug screening. Any student who tests positive will be given a reasonable length of time to test drug free. The student will be tested periodically to reinforce his/her decision to remain drug free.

An opportunity to see their child succeed and earn a high school diploma and become a productive and educated adult. Parents are expected to attend evening parent meetings and parent conferences as scheduled.

Yes. Students may ride the bus from their sending school to Project Connect at no cost.

Call your high school counselor or principal and ask about getting your student into Canadian Valley’s Project Connect program. ALL referrals must be submitted to Project Connect by a high school counselor.
