Medical Coding Specialist

This is a NEW course!  Become a Certified Professional Coder (CPC-A).  Medical coding is a critical part of the medical office industry as submitting the appropriate reimbursement into the medical practice.  This program provides the knowledge and skills to enter into the medical billing and coding career.  Instruction includes medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, procedural coding, diagnostic coding, insurance and electronic health record as well as analyzing medical records for correct code assignments.  Prerequisite:  High school diploma or GED. 

Clear drug screen, TB skin test is required before clinical rotation; TB skin test cannot be more than 6 months old.  OSBI background check cannot be more than 3 months old.  More than one background check may be required.

Students must maintain 24 hours per week attendance requirement.
